Wood dais or stone bases have several uses, they provide a stable base for your sharpening stones, they can be used to fix or aid in repairing broken stones and they can be used to support worn or older stones that are thinning before they break.
These dais can be used with natural or syntehtic water stones and oil stones.
All wood bases are finished and sealed to be water proof, you will need to glue your stone to this wooden base. We reccomend Gorilla glue ultimate clear construction adhesive it has the strongest bond and its water proof when fully dry. If you prefer we glue your stone for you or you need your sharpening stone repaired you can click here and mail in your stone to us.
Wood types for those that are curious about the available choices:
Poplar- is a straight grained wood and although its a hardwood it is light weight and some what soft, we like this wood for its beautiful colors and easy maintenance,this is our most budget freindly base. Best used for lighter stones and stones that do not require long soaking periods.
Birch- is a fine grained wood with even uniform texture, it is a some what heavier wood and resistant to shock, we love this wood for its strength and often beautifiul grain pattern. This wood base is our second most budget friendly, our birch wood bases are best used for Natural sharpening stones or stones that do not require soaking.
Oak- Is a often cut in ways that make it resistent to warping, known for its high strength and durability, this is a heavy wood that holds up to abuse well. We love and chose oakwood for its natural water and rot resistance and its easy low maintenance. Works well for all stones whether they are soaking stones, splash and go or spray stones.

If item is opened, used or damaged your return will not be accepted. Please contact us for returns, items returned without prior notification will not be excepted. Return shipping fees are the buyers responsibility.
